Ventura County vintners putting themselves on the map

“Dottie Kelley can barely contain the note of triumph in her voice.

“I got him,” she said. “I got Adam Tolmach.”

Tolmach is the much-lauded Ojai Vineyard winemaker who, more than 25 years after founding the limited-production winery in a redwood shack on his family’s property in the Ojai Valley, has at last decided to open a tasting room.

Kelley, meanwhile, is the newly named — and first — director of the Ventura County Wine Trail, a guide to wineries, tasting rooms and other wine-friendly sites ranging from the industrial parks of Oxnard to the grapevine-dotted hills of Malibu.”
